“Oaklash is here to let the world know that even if the bars have closed, drag culture hasn’t gone anywhere” the Oaklash pair told us over email, “It’s time for a long overdue celebration of the local queer culture that can only be found in the Bay.” Silver lining however, though in-person Oaklash has always featured local talent from all walks of the Bay, the duo put out airwaves and have brought onto the cast the likes of Rupaul’s Drag Race season 11 winner Yvie Oddly, Dragula season 2 winner Biqtch Pudding, alongside dynamic programming such as The Stud Bar’s Drag Alive, and on Sunday Oaklash will kick-off Oakland Pride with live-streamed performances from San Francisco and Oakland. The weekend will also feature panel discussions on race, disability, and how drag performers are adapting in the time of COVID-19.

The festival, much in the year of change, is free to watch but is suggested that you make a contribution of ten dollars to their PayPal.
