Many OnePlus 5 owners have been complaining about a jelly-like scrolling effect on the phone since getting their hands on the device earlier this week. The issue is bad enough for some users that they have returned their 5 or are planning on doing so.
Many users were hoping for a software update from OnePlus to fix what is probably a hardware or a video driver issue, but sadly that is not going to happen as OnePlus has confirmed that this behaviour is completely normal. https://youtu.be/Y2X50k9Bj9Y It’s unclear why the jelly-like scrolling effect happens in the first place, with many pointing fingers to the AMOLED panel since not every unit of the handset seems to be affected. However, now that OnePlus has confirmed this “subtle visual effect” is natural, there’s really not much that can be done. If you are still within the 15-day return window, you can return the phone and claim a refund. If not, you either learnt to live with the problem or sell your phone and buy another device.
