The OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T both have displays that support 1080p HD content, but the devices don’t actually support streaming content at that resolution. As it has been recently reported, both the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T do not support Widevine Level 1 DRM, which is required to support streaming content at HD levels. As of right now, both of OnePlus’s latest flagship devices, with the OnePlus 5 launching last year, only support Widevine Level 3 DRM, which can only stream content in standard definition (SD). OnePlus does admit that the support is not included in both handsets, but that it is currently working on a software update that will address this issue in the future. However, while the company is more than willing to say that a software update will patch the issue, they are not willing to disclose an actual date for when Widevine Level 1 DRM will be supported. Not until OnePlus releases that software update, at least. If you own a OnePlus 5 or OnePlus 5T, is this something you hope the company fixes sooner rather than later?
