OnePlus today rolled out the first beta of Android 8.0 Oreo for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T through its OxygenOS beta program. The company has been using its beta program to push out new features to advanced users for testing and stability purposes before pushing it to all OnePlus 3/3T owners out there.
It is interesting to see that OnePlus has first rolled out a beta Oreo build for the OnePlus 3/3T and not OnePlus 5, its 2017 flagship handset. The Oreo beta of OxygenOS bumps the security patch to September, includes an updated launcher which adds support for Notification dots, and other Oreo features like Picture in Picture, Auto-fill, redesigned Quick Settings, and more.
Being a beta, the build is not without its own issues though. OnePlus lists the following issues with the current beta of Oreo for the 3/3T:
Fingerprint actions may be slower than you are used to. Shortcut to access Google Photos is unavailable Some stability issues with NFC and Bluetooth Performance and compatibility of 3rd party apps will continue to be optimized
OnePlus is rolling out the Oreo beta as an OTA update for all OnePlus 3/3T devices already running a previous beta build of OxygenOS. If you end up installing it, make sure to create a backup of all your data. And if you want to flash back to Nougat, you will have to use a special build of OxygenOS for the device linked here. If you do end up installing the beta build of Oreo on your OnePlus 3/3T, make sure to drop a comment below and let us know whether you are liking it or not.
