The “F” series from Oppo, which is released by the name “R” series in China, gets the midrange flagship phones from Oppo. The last “F” series product released by Oppo is the F7, which was launched earlier this year in March with a price tag of under $300. Now, Oppo is gearing up to launch its successor, the F9 soon. They have already started advertising the phone on their social media handles, including some of its specifications.

The phone will come with a small circle like notch on the top, something like present on the Essential phone, but a bit smaller. For the flagship series, Oppo has already found a way to make a full screen phone without a notch, and now is the time for midrange series.

Now, some rumoured specs of the phone have surfaced online on Weibo. The phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 710 Soc, which will make Oppo the third brand to use the chipset after Xiaomi and Meizu. The phone might also launch with Mediatek P60, or maybe just in some countries. The phone will launch with at least 6 GB of RAM. Further, Oppo will also be welcoming an in display fingerprint sensor for the first time on their phone. Oppo will also put its Super VOOC charge in the phone. Though it might be downgraded from what we say in the Lamborghini edition of the Oppo Find X. In its teaser, Oppo claims that 5 mins of charge allows users to use the phone for about 2 hours. A dual camera setup will be present on the back, with AI capabilities. The phone might also come with a 6.3 inch Full HD+ display.

Corning has launched the Gorilla Glass 6 a few days back. According to them, the Gorilla Glass 6 can sustain a lot more compression force as compared to its predecessor Gorilla Glass 5. On an average, Gorilla Glass 6 can survive upto 15 drops from 1 meter above onto rough surfaces.

Corning revealed that the first phone to ship with Gorilla Glass 6 will be from Oppo, but didn’t reveal the model name. But chances are pretty high that the phone will be the upcoming F9.

John Bayne, VP at Corning said:

“We are excited to have OPPO adopt Gorilla Glass 6. OPPO’s new flagship model will provide consumers, who depend on their smartphone for every interaction in their digital lives, increased protection against multiple drops.”

The launch date of the phone is still not confirmed. Stay tuned with us for any future update!
