The Oppo R15 was one of the 2018’s mid-range specification smartphones from Oppo that came with Android 8.1 Oreo on the top of ColorOS 5 skin out-of-the-box. Last year, the handset has received the Android 9.0 Pie update over ColorOS 6 and now, it’s time for the latest Android 10 update. After the effect of Coronavirus, the Chinese OEM Oppo has recently released a ColorOS 7 beta update plan for the Oppo R15 model and others. Oppo has announced a roadmap for the ColorOS 7 (Android 10) trial version update for a couple of models and Oppo R15 series devices included in the list for Q2 2020. Though the update recruitment process and OTA updates will be pushed in a phased manner, all the interested Oppo R15 users can wait for it as the beta testing program will ensure a stable and power-packed user experience in the future.
ColorOS 7 Features (Android 10)
Oppo has launched its new custom skin version called ColorOS 7 officially a couple of months ago. If you’re one of the Oppo Reno 2 users then you should wait for the official stable update based on Android 10. What’s on Android 10?
Google has announced the 10th iteration of Android OS in September 2019. It comes with several features and system improvements. To be very specific, the Android 10 version mainly offers better user experience and privacy/security features.
It features System-wide Dark Mode, Gestures Navigation, Wi-Fi & QR Code scanning, improved app sharing menu, improved app permissions, enhanced location privacy control, easy security updates, Focus mode, live caption, family link, multi-camera API, built-in call screening, sound amplifier, better notification control, and more. It also offers 5G support, foldable support, improved lock screen, smart reply, etc.

The much-awaited stable ColorOS 7 update based on Android 10 has arrived with the firmware version CPH1819EX_11.F.12 for the R15 model. Oppo has confirmed that the handset should be running on the C.16\C.17 version in order to receive the OTA update notification. Additionally, Oppo has mentioned that if there are no critical bug or stability issues found in the upcoming days, the broader roll-out process will start soon. You can check further info here.
The ColorOS 7 trial beta update will arrive in the software version F.08 expectedly. So, those who haven’t updated their device yet to the latest software version, make sure to upgrade it first in order to receive the beta update. All the interested users can manually apply for the early adopters’ program via the Settings > Software Updates > Tap on the settings icon in the upper right corner > Tap on Trial Version > Fill in the required information > Select the checkbox and tap on Apply Now.
Head over to the device Settings > Software Update > Settings icon in the upper right corner > Upgrade early adopters > ColorOS 7 official version early adopters. Just fill in the required information. Then check the early adopters’ notice and privacy policy > Tap on Apply now’. All the successfully participated beta testers will receive the OTA update within 3 days. You can check out more details here.
Coming to the point, Oppo will start pushing ColorOS 7 + Android 10 Trial version from March to June (Q2 2020) and the Oppo R15 series device users will be able to apply for the early birds in June 2020. Once applied, the limited number of users will start receiving the ColorOS 7 (Android 10) beta update in batches.
